About the event

The Village of Cross Plains Plan Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. to consider proposed amendments to the village's Hillside Overlay Ordinance.

There is also an option to join virtually on zoom linked here.

The changes are being requested by developers proposing a second phase of the Marchstone residential development, which would expand onto property east of the village's current Urban Service Area. Among the proposed amendments: reducing the Hilltop Edge buffer from 150 feet to 50 feet.

The Hillside Overlay Ordinance has protected Cross Plains bluffs from development since 1988. BECWA has requested a study of the potential groundwater impacts of the Marchstone development, including possible effects on Festge Springs and the cold-water habitat that supports the creek's native trout population. More information on the history of this ordinance can be read in this article.

The Plan Commission's Information Packet describes the proposed changes and the rationale behind them.
